Immigration Reform: A Fast, Humane, Legal, No Cost Solution

A Draconian solution would be to round up all illegal aliens, put them on trial for the various misdemeanors and felonies that nearly all have committed in order to arrive here, secure false documents, and work illegally. It would cost taxpayers trillions of dollars and would appear to the world as overly harsh in humanitarian terms. It’s unacceptable but under the current law, that is what is technically required. Under current enforcement systems, it is not what is occurring.

Bonn Unlawful Immigration Reform Act
A more sensible approach that stands within the limits of the law and Constitution is to create a “temporary 1 year amnesty” in which all illegal aliens can safely return to their homeland on their own without risk of prosecution for their immigration related crimes. Those who remain on US soil after the temporary amnesty period expires are then automatically considered criminal felons under a new US trespass law and the federal government need only jail the few remaining on US soil in defiance of the law.

The penalty of US trespass (by unlawful border crossing or visa overstay) should be 5 years at hard labor to ensure the illegal alien finds no incentive for coming to, or staying in, the US illegally.

Illegal aliens who returned home on their own within the temporary amnesty period would remain eligible for normal immigration applications and processes (except as prohibited under previous convictions, if any).

Those found on US soil after the amnesty expired would be permanently barred from access to US soil or immigration or visa programs. This would act as a further incentive to ensure voluntary compliance.

This solution eliminates the need for a so called mass “round-up” and is highly cost effective while also very humane to both families and illegal aliens while also staying within the bounds of the law and US Constitution. It is a solution that also sends the right message by showing the world we, as a nation, are humane, but also firm about restoring and maintaining the “rule of law” and that unlawful immigrants are not welcome–do it right or not at all!”

After the temporary amnesty expires, some illegal aliens will remain behind to defy law enforcement (mostly hardened criminals and potential terrorists). As the federal government rounds up hundreds of this initial holdout bunch and begins prosecutions and harsh sentencing, thousands of those who thought they might wait and defy the system will then flee on their own in hopes of escaping such criminal prosecution. Over-all, more than 95% of all illegal aliens would be expected to return home of their accord within a short period without the need for mass round-ups.

Now this system works well, but then the question arises, what do we do about the US citizen children of illegal aliens who might be left parentless? Simple, the parents may either chose to take their children home with them, or they can leave them here to be placed in foster care homes. Under current law, US citizens are free to move about freely (including moving to a foreign country) and only minors need the assistance of the state if and when it’s called for.

In order to create disincentives for parents so they will not abandon their children in hopes of returning to the US through sponsorship by the child, a new law would forbid such illegal alien children from participating in all immigration sponsorship programs.

The cost for such an approach would likely be less than $6 billion nationally. The cost of amnesty, in contrast, would be a minimum of $2.6 trillion and as much as $36 trillion over 30 years, depending on how many illegal aliens were finally amnestied and the limitations for chain migration for those amnestied—not to mention major civil unrest across America.

Crimes that would receive amnesty from prosecution would include the whole gambit of those now commonly conducted by over 95% of all illegal aliens, such as: document fraud, forgery, identity theft, employment fraud, tax fraud, serial unauthorized entry, visa overstay leading to a commission of a crime, accessory to human trafficking, government program fraud, and many more.

It is not a solution chalked full of political agendas that are otherwise harmful to Americans or the country, or illegal or unconstitutional, or even costly for taxpayers (in fact, taxpayers will see savings exceeding $300 billion per year)—hence it might not be acceptable to a corrupted Congress and White House doing the bidding of their parties or corporations seeking the continuance of a slave labor market that harms all US workers, taxpayers, and our country.

Major Benefits For Nation As A Whole – Very Timely!
Such a process would benefit the nation in two critical ways in regards to our current situation in the economy and job market. First, between 5 and 12 million medium to high paying jobs would be opened up for US workers. Once such jobs are filled by them, the unemployment rate would drop to somewhere between 4 to 6%, which is considered very healthy for the nation historically. Secondly, the money that is freed up because illegal aliens can no longer siphon off the nation’s wealth (about $300+ billion annually) could be used to help offset other costs, such as healthcare or pay down the “out of control” national debt, or both.

Solving the problem this way offers the country a great many timely benefits in other areas of nation’s needs, all while upholding the Constitution and the will of over 80% of the voting public who stand hard against any form of “amnesty” (unlike special interests or unlawful foreigners). The benefits are multiple and should be the topic of much discussion on in the news media.

Poltical Strategy Aspect
Dealing with “unlawful immigration reform” alone, away from “lawful immigration” aspects, is critical because it focuses the issues and lawmakers on the key aspects and helps eliminate the blurring of lines between unlawful people and those who law abiding.

For example, racist international groups such as La Raza, prefer to blur the line between “lawful immigration” and “illegal alien trespass” or “foreign invasion” (known commonly as “illegal immigration”) by referring to all those here unlawfully as merely “immigrants.”

The fact is, unlawful aliens are NOT IMMIGRANTS in any sense of the word under the law or under moral, ethical, or social justice definitions—they are simply lawbreakers (and may be terrorists, career criminals, human traffickers, gang members, unlawful workers, or others who often have no intention of immigrating legally and would otherwise not be allowed to do if caught and prosecuted properly for their respective crimes).

After lawmakers clean up the “unlawful immigration” mess they created in this country since failing on their promises in 1986, they will then need to address “Lawful Immigration Reform,” which is a highly complex issue that must take into account things such as: US workforce needs and respective wages for US citizen workers (to ensure wage devaluation is not created), calculation of environmental impacts (i.e. water shortages in the West are already nearing the point when cities may have to ban new home construction in order to limit their populations within the scope of what water sources can safely provide), temporary workers, and so forth.

Under current laws, the “unlawful alien” is suppose to be arrested and deported. This is an old law set. Handling “unlawful immigration reform” is much simpler than “lawful immigration reform” because the former allows lawmakers to focus on resolving the issues in the law that are currently not working as deterrents to thus ensure compliance—it also aids lawmakers to remain in compliance with Article IV, Section IV of the US Constitution.

Once this is achieved, then the much more complicated issue of “legal immigration” can be focused on, free of the weight of a more contentious issue and the deceptions that are occuring regarding poltical agendas.

The Bonn Unlawful Immigration Act will permanently resolve the issue of “unlawful immigration” in the US, thus saving taxpayers trillions of dollars in losses over the decades while also paving the way for lawmakers to focus on the harder issue of lawful immigration reforms (in a way that make sense for the nation). They are two separate and distinct issues both in the law and in the realities of social justice—offering unlawful aliens safe harbor aka “amnesty” aka “pay fines to stay on US soil”, beyond all doubt, is a grave social injustice to all Americans and legal immigrants—not to mention a legal injustice and affront on the US Constitution.

Activism Suggestion
If you like this idea, why not print up about 100 copies of this article and pass it around in town—ask others to print up 100 copies and pass it around too and before you know it, the nation will be awaken to this alternative solution that the liberal news media and lawmakers refuse to entertain. Using good old fashion street level grass roots and information passing, you could make a difference (and meet lots of new people in the process while having fun). Or, if you wish, write an editorial on this article and tell readers why you like the idea (or do not like it). Or, why not fax a copy to Congress/Senate or the White House or when protesting against “their amnesty” why not also lobby members to apply this alternative solution instead. Get involved. Good ideas are worthless without good action too.
